Under her leadership, the Furman pitching staff showed much improvement during the 2006 season, culminating with Blake Murray's selection to the Southern Conference All-Tournament Team.Shipman, who served as an assistant at Gardner-Webb for three seasons, was named assistant coach and pitching coach for the Lady Paladin program in June of 2005."I am excited to have a coach of Annie's caliber joining our program," said Jenkins, at the time of the hiring. "She has a wealth of pitching knowledge that will prove invaluable to our program."A native of Sissonville, W.V., Shipman graduated summa cum laude from Campbell University in 2001. The righthanded pitcher led the nation in saves her senior year with 10 and ranks first on Campbell's all-time saves ledger. A 2000 and 2001 team captain, Shipman was named to the Verizon Academic All-America First Team following her senior season.Prior to her three seasons at Gardner-Webb, Shipman worked as an intern at the NCAA's home office in Indianapolis, Ind. Her duties included working with the Division I softball and Division III football championships as well as serving as media coordinator for the Division I wrestling championship.Shipman earned a Bachelor of Arts in print journalism from Campbell and received her master's in exercise science and sports pedagogy from Gardner-Webb in 2004. She is married to Scott Shipman.
